Government of Balochistan implemented e-procurement in the province from 28th February, 2022 for procurements of works over Rs. 50 million, good over Rs. 5 million and Services & Consulting Services over Rs. 1 million. Balochistan was the first province in the country who initiated e-procurement.
To implement the government’s decision regarding e-procurement an Electronic Public Procurement System (EPPS) was launched immediately. For smooth functioning of the system an extensive training programme for procuring agencies and contractors/suppliers was initiated. Till date more than 500 procuring officers and more than 250 contractors/suppliers have been trained and registered in the system. For this purpose, several training workshops have been conducted in different regions of the province like Loralai, Turbat, Uthal and Quetta.
Since 28th February, 2022 more than 500 tenders have been uploaded on EPPS including more than 30 tenders for electronic submission of bids. Till date 04 e bids openings have been successfully conducted and their evaluation is in progress, while evaluation reports of more than 50 tenders have been uploaded in the system. These statistics are one of the important indicators of smooth functioning of the EPPS.
